July at Waikiki Beachside Hostel: Something Fun Every Night

Waikiki Beachside Hostel knows how to keep the energy going every night of the week. If you’re staying with us this July, you’re in luck. We’ve got a full schedule of nightly events designed to help you relax, meet people, and make the most of your time in Hawaii. Best of all, most events are totally free and no sign-up is needed. Here’s your guide to what’s happening each night in the Big Lounge or just outside it.

Monday: Sip and Social at Wine and Cheese Night

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Big Lounge


Mondays are all about easing into the week. Join fellow travelers for a casual evening of wine and cheese. Staff will be on hand to serve pours and pair them with a variety of cheeses. It’s a great way to meet others in a cozy setting.

What to Know:

  • Must be 21 or older to drink (bring ID)
  • Super relaxed vibe, no reservation required
  • A great way for solo travelers and small groups to break the ice


Tuesday: Game Night with a Twist

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Big Lounge


Every Tuesday is a surprise. Staff will host a new game each week, which could be anything from Bingo to Pickleball to something totally unexpected. Check with the front desk earlier in the day to see what’s on deck.


Bingo Nights Include:

  • ₱5 entry fee
  • Winner gets the whole pot
  • 2nd and 3rd place win HiShack vouchers

Other Info:

  • No fee for non-Bingo games
  • All games are optional
  • Ideal for meeting new people and joining in some friendly competition


Wednesday: Get Creative at Arts and Crafts Night

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Big Lounge


Midweek calls for a creative break. Whether you're a skilled artist or a total beginner, you’re welcome to join this laid-back art night. Supplies are included and the vibe is chill. Picture Bob Ross on in the background while you paint or craft.


Possible Activities:

  • Painting on canvas
  • DIY bracelet or jewelry making
  • Sketching or designing postcards

Pro Tip: A perfect way to wind down after exploring all day.

Thursday: Karaoke and Cocktail Night

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Big Lounge


Get ready to sing your heart out. Thursday nights bring karaoke and cocktails together in one loud, lively event. Staff will be pouring sangria and spinning whatever tunes you request.


What to Expect:

  • 2 drink max per guest
  • Must be 21 or older with ID to drink
  • All ages welcome to sing
  • Any genre, any song, just request it


Friday: Fireworks Walk Tradition

Meet Time: 6:30 PM
Leave by: 6:35 PM to 6:45 PM
Meet Point: In front of Reception


Friday night fireworks in Waikiki are a tradition and you won’t want to miss it. Join a group walk to one of the best local spots to catch the show, usually near the Hilton Lagoon. A staff member will lead the walk and guide you to the view.


Tips for Friday Night:

  • Bring a blanket or something to sit on
  • Have your camera ready
  • Staff will walk the group back after


Saturday: Margaritas and Mingling

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Big Lounge


Start your Saturday night right with our Meet and Greet Margarita mixer. Come for the drinks and stay for the good conversation. It’s a casual way to meet other travelers before heading out for the night.

Drink Rules:

  • 21 and over only, ID required
  • 2 margaritas per person
  • Great music and good vibes guaranteed


Sunday: Movie Night Wind Down

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Big Lounge


Cap off your week with a laid-back movie night. The host will stream something from Netflix and popcorn is available on request. Got a movie idea? Drop it with the host or front desk ahead of time.

  • Popcorn available
  • Movie suggestions welcome (first-come, first-serve)
