  • What is required to stay at Waikiki Beachside Hostel

    All guests reserving a bed at Waikiki Beachside Hostel must adhere to the House Rules and Terms and Conditions.


    We require an ID (non-expired and government-issued) and proof of onward travel (flight/cruise ticket) at check-in. If you are a USA citizen, please be ready to provide an out-of-state (non-Hawaiian) State ID or Drivers License. If you are an international guest, please be ready to provide your foreign passport. 


    *Unfortunately, other forms of IDs like a student ID or military ID are not accepted.


    Proof of onward travel must be a flight/cruise ticket leaving Honolulu. For student or military inquiries, please contact us directly for more details of what you will need to provide before making a reservation.


    If you are unable to any necessary information at check-in your reservation will be cancelled and no refund will be issued.

  • Is there a maximum number of days I can stay at this hostel?

    Guests can stay a maximum of 28 days in each 6-month period. 

  • Does WBH accept Walk-in or phone reservations

    Yes! We gladly accepts walk-ins. No appointment necessary. If you prefer to plan ahead, phone reservations are also available. Either way, we’re happy to have you.

  • Are there any age restrictions

    All guests must be 18 years of age or older, in addition to, being able to walk up 4 flights of stairs independently. 

  • Important Hours to Know

    Reception hours: Available 24-hours daily.


    The common areas: 6am - 10pm


    QUIET HOURS: 10pm - 7am


    Event Hours: 7pm - 9pm Daily


    Check-in time is only between 3pm - 12am


    Check-out time is before 11am

  • Are Outside Guests Allowed on the Property

    Outside guests are not allowed on the property due to it being a liability should they find access to any of the rooms, steal, or break anything during their time on the property. Please be mindful as it will keep your personal belongings, as well as, others safe. 



    *Should anyone bring in an outside guest they will be held liable for any damages caused by that person and will be immediately asked to leave.

  • Is WBH pet friendly

    Service Animals (as defined by the ADA)


    We welcome guests with disabilities who travel with service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).


    A service animal is a dog (or, in some cases, a miniature horse) that is individually trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability.


    Policy Guidelines:


    Guests must be in control of their service animal at all times.

    Animals must be leashed, harnessed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work.


    However, we reserve the right to ask an animal to be removed if:

    It is out of control and the handler does not take effective action.

    It is not housebroken.

    It poses a direct threat to others.


    We do nt accept emotional support animals.

    We accept VISA and Mastercards only.


    We do not accept cash.

  • Are there any charges before check-in

    Yes, we charge the price of one night immediately after the booking has been made as a down payment to secure your reservation. 


    If the charge cannot go through, no reservation is guaranteed. 

  • Are there any unexpected fees

    We do not charge any hidden fees, such as: resort, cleaning, wi-fi, telephone, or printing fees.

  • Do you offer any discounts

    Yes, we do! To view our current deals and promotions, just click the “Special Offers” button on our website. It will take you to a dedicated page with all available discounts. Be sure to check back often—offers change regularly!

  • Everything about check-in

    Our standard check-in time is anytime after 3:00 PM (15:00) until 4:00 AM.


    If you arrive early, you’re welcome to use all our community amenities—like the kitchen and outdoor lounge—while you wait for your room to be ready at 3:00 PM. We also provide complimentary luggage storage for your convenience.


    Our reception desk is open 24/7.

  • Everything about check-out

    Check-Out Information

    Check-out time is anytime before 11:00 AM.


    To check out, please:

    Return all linens (excluding the pillow, just the pillowcase) and towels to the designated dirty laundry bins.

    Bring your name tag and room key back to the front desk.

    Please note that late check-out incurs a fee of $25 per hour. 

  • How can I fix an issue on my reservation

    To modify or resolve any issues with your reservation, please contact the platform where you originally booked your stay—whether that’s a third-party booking site (OTA) or directly through our website.

  • Can I cancel for Free

     This depends on how you made your reservation. Please refer back to your booking confirmation in your email to verify what type of cancellation policy applies to your reservation specifically.

  • What if my flight was cancelled/delayed

    If your flight is delayed or canceled, please contact our staff directly via email with a written statement explaining how this affects your reservation and what changes you would like to make.


    Please note: If you booked through a third-party site, we are unable to make changes to your reservation within 48 hours of your check-in date. In that case, you must contact the third-party platform directly to request any cancellations or modifications.

  • Do I get a deposit back

    There are no deposits charged to any guests accounts.



    We only have a one night down payment to secure your reservation which applies to your first night stay. 

  • Invalid cards

    To secure your reservation, updated card information must be provided. If we are unable to process the one-night deposit, your reservation will be canceled.

  • Are there any common areas

    Amenities

    We currently offer a shared kitchen and two comfortable lounge areas for our guests to enjoy.


    Kitchen

    Located on the second floor at the end of the hallway by the rear stairwell, our fully equipped kitchen includes an oven and stovetop, fridge, sink, rice cooker, toaster, microwave, kettle, as well as all the dishes and utensils you may need.


    Lounge Areas


    Main Lounge: Our large lounge area is where most of our events take place. It’s a lively space perfect for socializing, relaxing, and meeting fellow travelers.


    Quiet Lounge: For a more private and peaceful setting, we have a smaller lounge located just behind Building C. This cozy spot is ideal for unwinding or enjoying some quiet time.

  • What type of rooms does WBH offer

    Here are the room types we offer:

    • 4 - bed deluxe shared dorm (Co-Ed only)
    • 4- beds shared dorm
    • 6 - beds shared dorm
    • 8 - beds shared dorm

    **The 4, 6, and 8 bed dorms have female only rooms or co-ed rooms options. 

     


  • Are there any rooms available on ground floor

    All of our rooms are located on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, which are only accessible via stairs. 



    *We do not have an elevator or lift. All guests must be able to carry their belongings up and down the stairs.

  • Are beds assigned

    Beds are not pre-assigned, and bottom or top bunk preferences cannot be guaranteed. Bedding is available on a first-come, first-served basis at check-in. Please note that each guest is entitled to one bed only—not the entire bunk.

  • Will I get locked out after midnight

    We are open 24-7 and our front desk is always here to help you. 

  • How do i keep my personal belongings safe

    We recommend that all of our guests keep their belongings inside their luggage and to have a travel lock for each bag. We are unable to hold your luggage after check-in due to limited space, so all guest luggage must remain in the room next to or under the bed. 


    We also sell locks for $5 if you need one in reception. 

  • Do you have wifi

    We offer high speed Wi-Fi to all registered guests.

  • Are linens provided for the beds

    All guests will receive linens and one towel (by request) at check-in. Please make sure to return everything, as described in the check-out process, that reception has given you before check out.

  • Do you offer luggage storage

    We offer complimentary luggage storage ONLY during check in and checkout. 



    We are unable to offer overnight, longterm, and storage during your stay.

  • Parking

    The hostel does not offer guest parking, however, there are several parking options throughout Waikiki.



    *Before parking, be mindful of neighborhood parking in the early morning and late at night.*



    There are free street parking options available along Monsarrat Ave, Ala Wai Blvd, and Kapiolani park (oceanside). These are subject to restrictions, so please read the signs where you decide to park.



    Metered street parking is scattered all over Waikiki, with the two closest streets being Paoakalani Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue. For more paid parking options please look into these spaces:



    Kapiolani park (the park side of the street is some of the best rates)



    Honolulu Zoo (day parking)- 1 hour paid parking for $1.50 (maximum 4 hours) right next to the hostel - NO OVERNIGHT PARKING



    Waikiki Banyan parking garage- Overnight parking available $30/ day or $150/week for cars $15/day for mopeds



    *Be sure to check all posted signs for city parking hours and payment options

  • How do I meet other people there

    Currently, we offer a WhatsApp group chat during check-in that you’re welcome to join, along with access to our community spaces and group outings hosted by our staff.

  • Leaving things behind for other guests

    Do you have extra sunscreen, womens products, shampoo, or maybe just something you dont want anymore? Great! So long as it is packaged properly and not going to cause any odors or attract any bugs you are very welcome to leave it in the bin labeled "for other guests" next to the bathroom in your room.  This way other guests know it is free to use. 

  • Mail

    You may receive mail at Waikiki Beachside Hostel during your stay. Please note that any mail arriving more than 30 days after your departure will be returned to the sender, unless you have made prior arrangements with our staff.


    If mail is frequently sent to the property for former guests, we reserve the right to change the mailing address.

  • Where is WBH located

    We are located at, 2556 Lemon Road Honolulu, HI 96815 #B101, just inside the green gate and look for the green awnings for our reception. 

  • Airport transportation

    Taxis are available for pick-up at the airport in the center median outside of baggage claim these typically cost 50 - 65 USD and take about 20 minutes to reach Waikiki.



    Shuttles are available for walk-ups and/or through bookings made on their websites. They cost around 25 USD, and will drop you off at our front door. A shuttle takes about 45 minutes to an hour.


    We recommend using either Roberts Hawaii, VIP Transport, or Speedi Shuttle.



    The city bus costs $3 and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the hostel on route #19 or #20. If you take the bus get off at the Waikiki Marriot stop, walk towards the beach for about 100m, then turn left at the ABC store. Our entrance is the green gate before the Moped shop.


    Please keep in mind that if you choose to take the bus, all of your belonging should be able to fit in your lap (no roll on luggage is allowed) and exact change is needed in cash as they do not give change or accept any cards other than the HOLO Card (The Bus card).



    *A HOLO card can be purchased at any ABC store and saves you money should you need to use the bus quite often during your time in Hawaii

  • How can i get to the airport between 12:00am and 6:00am

    At that time of the morning, you may go by taxi/uber or take a shuttle. The Roberts Hawaii and SpeediShuttle companies run at those times, but must be arranged in advance. The taxi services typically charge a flat rate of $29, while uber and shuttle prices vary.

  • Where can I rent a car

    All rental car services around Oahu are available online for reservations. We recommend using Hotwire.com and Turo.com to rent a car.



    *Please note that most car rentals will be located at the airport. 

  • Can i rent a moped close by?

    There is a moped shop next to our hostel. We offer 10% discount for our guests to rent them!
