Check-In Requirements
Traveler Policy:
Waikiki Beachside Hostel is exclusively for travelers. All guests must present a valid government-issued photo ID and proof of ongoing travel. Acceptable proof includes a flight or cruise ticket.
Age Requirement:
Guests must be 18 years or older. While there is no upper age limit, every guest must be physically capable of climbing three flights of stairs (with luggage) and accessing a bunk bed. Please note that there is no elevator or luggage lift on the property.
Bed Assignments:
Bed preferences (e.g., upper or lower bunk) are not guaranteed and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis at check-in. If only top bunks are available and you are unable to use them, cancellations made at the last minute will not be refunded.
Payment and Deposits:
A one-night deposit (first night’s stay) is required to secure your reservation. The remaining balance is due at check-in. We accept Visa and Mastercard only — no cash transactions are allowed.
Reception & Check-In/Out Times:
Our reception is open 24/7 to assist you.
- Check-in starts at 3:00 PM
- Check-out is by 11:00 AM
Luggage Storage:
Complimentary luggage storage is available only during check-in and check-out hours (for early arrivals and late-night departures). We do not offer overnight or long-term storage due to limited space. Unauthorized or extended storage may incur a fee and could result in cancellation of future bookings.
Group Reservations:
For groups of 16 or more guests, please email contact@waikikibeachsidehostel.com to arrange your booking. Group reservations require a 50% deposit to secure your stay. Failure to provide this deposit may result in cancellation.
Additional Policies:
- All guests must respect hostel rules and community spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Outside guests are not permitted on the property due to liability concerns.
- Pets are only allowed if certified as service animals, with proper documentation.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the building.
- Maximum stay of 28 days.
Agreement:
By making a reservation with Waikiki Beachside Hostel, you agree to abide by all the terms and conditions listed above.
CANCELLATION POLICY
To receive a full refund of any balance paid, cancellations must be made in writing at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival.
How to Cancel:
- Reservations booked directly with Waikiki Beachside Hostel:
Please email us at contact@waikikibeachsidehostel.com with your full name, confirmation number, and reservation dates. - Reservations made through other third-party websites (e.g., Booking.com, hostelworld):
Contact the booking platform directly to initiate your cancellation. After receiving confirmation from the third party, please send a follow-up email to contact@waikikibeachsidehostel.com to ensure your refund is processed. - Note: We do not have direct control over third-party bookings and do not receive automatic updates on cancellations. Without your follow-up email, refunds cannot be guaranteed.
Group Reservations (16 or more guests):
A 50% deposit is required to secure group bookings. Cancellations must be made at least 30 days prior to arrival to qualify for a full refund. Please send cancellation requests to contact@waikikibeachsidehostel.com.
Attempting to split a group reservation to bypass this policy will not exempt any part of the reservation from the 30-day cancellation rule.
House Rules
Check-In & Check-Out
- Check-In: After 3:00 PM
- Check-Out: By 11:00 AM
- Late Check-Out Fee: $25 per hour
We offer complimentary luggage storage for early arrivals and same-day check-outs. Upon departure, guests must:
- Strip all linens (sheets, pillowcases, towels) and place them in the laundry bins provided
- Return keys and name tags to reception
Quiet Hours & Guest Conduct
- Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM (enforced per City of Honolulu ordinance)
- Only registered guests are permitted on the property—no outside visitors at any time
- Nudity is not allowed in any common area and dorms.
- Aggressive, discriminatory, or disrespectful behavior toward guests or staff will result in immediate removal without refund
- This is a shared space—please be mindful, courteous, and respectful of others at all times
Smoking, Drugs & Alcohol
- Smoking, vaping, and drug use are strictly prohibited throughout the property—including all indoor/outdoor spaces, entrances, balconies, and hallways
- Excessive alcohol use or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated
- Staff reserves the right to determine what qualifies as excessive or unsafe behavior
- Violations may result in a $250 fine and immediate eviction without refund
Dorm Etiquette
In shared dorms, respect for fellow travelers is essential:
- Keep noise to a minimum, especially during early mornings and late nights
- Do not move or touch others’ belongings
- Do not remove mattresses from bunks
- Keep your space tidy and personal items contained
- Use headphones for music or videos
- Lights out means quiet time—please be considerate
Communal Kitchen & Lounge Areas
Open Daily: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Guests must clean up after themselves immediately. That means:
- Washing, drying, and putting away dishes after use
- Clearly labeling all food with your name, room number, and departure date
- Properly storing food—unlabeled, expired, or messy items will be discarded
- Returning hostel kitchen gear or cookware promptly
- A cleaning fee may apply for messes left behind
We aim to keep our kitchen and lounges clean, usable, and enjoyable for everyone—thanks for doing your part.
Laundry Services
- Laundry is available for guest use
- Detergent and dryer sheets can be purchased at the front desk
- Please remove your clothes promptly to allow others to use the machines
Personal Belongings & Safety
- Use lockers and keep valuables secure
- Bags must be stored under your bed or in lockers—not in walkways or shared spaces
- Staff may remove unattended items left in common areas
- The hostel is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings
- Report anything suspicious to the front desk immediately
Lost Key Policy
- Lost or unreturned room keys are subject to a $25 replacement fee
- Please inform reception right away if your key is lost or damaged
Borrowed Items
We offer beach gear, irons, umbrellas, and more for your convenience:
- Borrowing requires leaving your key at the front desk and signing out the item
- Items must be returned by 11:00 PM the same day
- Charges apply for lost or damaged items
Staff Access & Room Entry
For health, safety, and operational reasons, hostel staff may enter guest rooms at any time for:
- Emergency welfare checks
- Housekeeping or maintenance
- Rule enforcement or suspected violations
This policy ensures a safe, clean, and respectful environment for all guests.
Events & Social Activities
We host regular events to connect travelers and create a fun, welcoming environment. Participation is optional, but respectful behavior is expected at all times. Staff instructions must be followed during events. Disruptive or inappropriate conduct may result in removal from activities or the property.

Emergency Procedures
In case of emergency, please notify staff immediately.
For police, fire, or medical emergencies, dial 911.

- We accept visa and mastercards only (no cash payments)
- Cancellations made within 48 hours of arrival, or no-shows, may be charged for one night
- OTA-specific cancellation policies apply when booked through third-party platforms
Social Media & Photo Consent
By tagging or posting content related to Waikiki Beachside Hostel—whether on social media or in hostel group chats—you grant us permission to reuse that content for promotional purposes. No compensation or prior approval is required.

By staying at Waikiki Beachside Hostel, you agree to follow all policies listed above.
Violations may result in:
- Fines
- Eviction without refund
- Additional charges for damages or cleaning
