Start at Waikiki Beachside Hostel: Meet up in the lobby at 8:30 AM sharp.

Makapuʻu Lighthouse: Coastal Views and Island History

Perched on the easternmost tip of Oʻahu, the Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse is a historic beacon that’s been guiding ships since 1909. It sits atop rugged sea cliffs overlooking the deep blue Pacific, marking one of the most scenic spots on the island. The lighthouse features one of the largest lenses of its kind in the U.S., and though it’s no longer open to the public, the nearby lookout gives you a perfect view.

During the winter months, this trail is one of the best places on Oʻahu to spot humpback whales breaching offshore.
