Shuttles are available for walk-ups and/or through bookings made on their websites. They cost around 25 USD, and will drop you off at our front door. A shuttle takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

There is a moped shop directly downstairs from the hostel. We even offer discounts for our guests to rent them!

  • Parking

The hostel does not offer guest parking, however, there are several parking options throughout Waikiki.

*Before parking, be mindful of neighborhood parking in the early morning and late at night.*

There are free street parking options available along Monsarrat Ave, Ala Wai Blvd, and Kapiolani park (oceanside). These are subject to restrictions, so please read the signs where you decide to park.

Metered street parking is scattered all over Waikiki, with the two closest streets being Paoakalani Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue. For more paid parking options please look into these spaces:

  • What local food should I try?

We love to advertise our local farmers markets as it includes heaps of Hawaiian specialties, however, if you are looking for some other spots to enjoy look into malasadas (Hawaiian donuts), poke (fish), saimin (soup), and loco mocos! Also just search along the roads closest to the ocean as you will always find local shaved ice, cafes, and sit down restaurants.

  • Are there any local sites/events that I should see when in Hawaii?

Lu’aus are always a special memory when witnessed in Hawaii as the locals have chosen to share this beautiful form of storytelling with those that come to Hawaii. Hikes and get togethers outside of Waikiki are also amazing to see what the nature in Hawaii is like. Overall, there are various kinds of activities to do while you are in Hawaii just ask us for more specific recommendations at reception and don’t be afraid to branch out, try something new!

  • What hikes are there to do in the area?

There are various kinds of hikes from the easy and quick Diamond Head and Manoa Falls hikes; to the intermediate Koko Head and Lanikai Pillbox; all the way to the harder Kuliʻouʻou Ridge and the Three Peaks trails. Of course if you would like to hear about any others, don’t hesitate to ask us at reception when you arrive.

  • Are you the same Waikiki Beachside Hostel as the one before the COVID interruption?

Yes, with just a few changes.

The company that owns the hostel is the same, however, the hostel has down sized recently and reopened January of 2023.  There are a few things things that have changed including, the style of rooms available, the amount of rooms, the common areas, and the staff. Waikiki Beachside Hostel went througha few changes during and after the covid pandemic and although we may not be what some were use to in the past we are still very much a wonderful place to stay and relax during your time in Hawaii.
